Tim is a mixed-race Korean adoptee, born July 9, 1957 in Seoul, and adopted through Holt to a family in Oregon on July 31, 1959. Tim first returned to Korea in 1977, with a second trip in October 1987, where he met a Korean national who was working at the Holt-Ilsan special ed school. After a few months of mail and telephone correspondence, Tim returned to Korea in May 1988 to marry Kim. Tim has subsequently visited Korea more than 45 times.
Tim graduated with a BA from Seattle Pacific University in 1979 and has worked for a local CPA firm in Seattle since graduation. Tim and Kim have a daughter, Jackie (October 1992), who is fluent in Korean, because of Kim’s influence (Tim is Korean-language challenged). Since 1992 they have led tours of adoptees and their families to Korea, with 2007 being their 17th tour group.
Since 1987, Tim has been Treasurer of Korean Identity Development Society (KIDS), an adoptive family support organization providing cultural activities and culture camps for families created through Korean adoption. Tim has been involved with AAAW since 1999, first as Treasurer and currently as President and Treasurer. Tim was an instrumental member of the Planning Committee for the International Korean Adoptee Gathering 2004 in Seoul, Korea. This historic event, planned for and by adoptees, brought together more than 400 Korean adult adoptees from 15 countries. He also co-chaired the 2007 International Korean Adoptee Associations (IKAA) Gathering in Seoul, which was presented by nine adoptee organizations and represented more than 10,000 members, from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, AAAW in Washington, Also Known As in New York and AK Connection in Minnesota, along with assistance from adoptee organizations in Korea.
On September 13, 2005, Tim received an Angel in Adoption award from Senator Patty Murray, through the Congressional Coalition on Adoption. Tim is also an advisory committee member for the Advisory Council on Inter-country Adoption (ACIA) Tim is also the IKAA president.

Sarah Kim Randolph
VP of Operations
Sarah (Kim, Mi-Ran) was born in Incheon, South Korea in 1978 and adopted to Kansas City, Missouri in 1979. She attended Creighton University and also holds a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Washington. She has lived in Kansas City, Omaha, Boston, Seoul, and now Seattle. Sarah first became involved with the transracial, transnational adult adoptee community in 2001 by volunteering for Holt Heritage Camps, which she did for three years. While living in Korea during 2004-2005, she taught English and also reunited with her Korean family. Other adoptee-related organizations that Sarah has worked with include Boston Korean Adoptees (BKA), Global Overseas Adoptees’ Link (GOA’L), Adoptee Solidarity Korea (ASK), Korean Identity Development Society (KIDS) Culture Camp, and International Korean Adoptee Associations (IKAA). Sarah was also a member of the planning committees for the IKAA Gathering 2007 in Seoul as well as various mini-gatherings. Currently, she works in fund development for a local nonprofit organization in Seattle. Sarah joined the AAAW Board of Directors in 2005 and is currently the VP of Operations. She is also AAAW’s Primary Representative Director for the IKAA network.

Jenny Kelly
VP of Communications
Jennifer was born in Seoul, Korea. At the age of 10, she and her older brother were adopted by the Palmer family in a rare open adoption. She left her Korean mother and joined her “American” family who already had two children adopted from Korea, two children from Vietnam and two biological children. Growing up in Iowa, she was involved in International Culture Camp every summer. Upon completing her college studies in Iowa, she moved to Sydney, Australia to be with her husband whom she had met in college. Jenny lived and worked in Sydney for a total of 8 years. Jenny also traveled extensively for three years covering many countries in Asia including a month in Korea and also Europe with over a year spent living and working in London. Her years of traveling were by far one of the most educational and enriching experiences. She has worked as a hospitality industry professional for over 12 years in food and beverage management roles as well as hospitality sales. Jenny has been an active member since 1999 with AAAW and was elected Secretary at the end of 2000 and then VP of Communications in 2003. She currently resides in Queen Anne with her husband and enjoys being a “Full Time Mom” to their young son and daughter.

Mindy Rodgers
VP of Programs
Mindy (Lee, Kye-Hwa) was born in Seoul, Korea in January 1976. Prior to coming to the U.S., she lived with her biological family in Gangwon-do, Korea until she was 16-months-old. At the age of 2, she came to the live with her adoptive family in Brush Prairie, Washington. After high school, she attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and graduated with her B.A. in Anthropology. After graduation, she worked with the National Park Service at Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks as a seasonal park ranger. Mindy currently works in medical staffing for a health insurance company. In 2002, she began her birth family search and found them. Upon locating her family, she learned that her biological brother had searched ten years to find her. In 2004, Mindy and her adoptive father returned to Korea for the first time to reunite with her birth family. Since her return to Korea, she has remained in contact with her biological brother and hopes to maintain a life-long relationship with him. Mindy is a big sports fan. She plays flag football, basketball, and softball for local Seattle leagues. Her other hobbies include camping, fishing, bargain shopping, traveling, spending time with her family/friends and her wonder dog, Cody. She currently resides in Seattle.
Kevin Driscoll
Treasurer
Kevin was born in Incheon, South Korea in 1986 and adopted at four months old. He grew up in the Seattle area. As a youth and teen he attended Korean Identity Development Society’s (K.I.D.S) Korean Culture Camp. He also attended Holt International’s Summer Heritage camp as a camper as well as a camp counselor for four years. During high school he served on the Teen Board of Asian Adult Adoptees of Washington for several years in organizing events for AAAW’s teen members. He attended Seattle University and graduated with a B.A. in International Business. Kevin has returned to Korea three times, once in 1996, 2002 and most recently in 2009. He currently resides in Seattle and joined the AAAW Board of Directors in 2009. Kevin currently serves as the Board of Directors’ Treasurer.

Heidi Park
Secretary
Heidi was born in Seoul, South Korea in 1983 and adopted to Minnesota when she was six months old. She attended the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John’s University and graduated with a B.A. in History. Heidi lived in Korea from 2004-2006, where she was a member of Global Overseas Adoptees’ Link (G.O.A.’L) and Adoptee Solidarity Korea (ASK). While living in Korea, Heidi took Korean language classes at Ewha Woman’s University, taught English, and developed curriculum. She currently works for a Seattle-based think tank. Heidi joined the AAAW Board of Directors in 2009 and currently serves as the Secretary.

Sonya Yoon Ja Wilson
Board Member
Sonya Yoon Ja Wilson was born in Taegu, South Korea in 1976 and adopted to a family in Minnesota when she was a year old. She has one older brother who was domestically adopted. Sonya lived in Minnesota for the early part of her adult life. For seven years, she was involved in the adopted Korean community in Minnesota. She volunteered with adopted children at a Minnesota adoption agency and worked at different Korean adoptee culture camps in Minnesota, Iowa, and Seattle. She was an active board member of the local Minnesota adoptee organization and a Planning Committee member for the 2007 IKAA Gathering. Sonya returned to Korea the first time in 2001 and has returned numerous times for different adoptee-related events, such as the 2004 and 2007 Gatherings. Upon completion of her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Minnesota, Sonya relocated to Seattle, Washington in 2007 and joined the board of AAAW. She currently works as a Social Worker for a local non-profit agency that provides services to homeless youth in Seattle. Her interest and passion is in youth work, and she has committed her time and energy to create an adopted Korean community that new generations of adoptees can benefit from. Sonya serves AAAW’s Secondary IKAA Representative.

Teresa Cabanilla
Board Member
Teresa Cabanilla was born on November 13, 1981 in Kwangju, South Korea. At a year and a half, her parents adopted her along with her twin sister. Teresa mostly grew up in Edmonds, Washington but for a short while lived in Beaverton, Oregon. Currently, Teresa is living in Edmonds, Washington and is working as a nanny and going to school for a special education degree. In her spare time, she likes to shop, play soccer, ski, camp, hike, and spend time with friends and family. Teresa has been back to Korea a couple of times and hopes to go back soon to get know her biological family a little bit more. She is still actively involved with AAAW as a member of the Board of Directors.

Michael Hougham
Board Member
Michael was born in Seoul, Korea in 1972 and was adopted at the age of 5. He was raised in various small towns in Washington State. After high school, Michael joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Korea for his first assignment. Michael has since returned to Korea a few times and lived in Korea for over 3 years. Michael holds an Associate’s Degree of Applied Science in Electronic Systems Technology and is on the brink of obtaining his B.S. in Management. In 1998, Michael was relieved from the Air Force and joined the Washington Air National Guard. Michael enjoys working in the IT/Telecom industry and has worked in the field for over 15 years. Currently, Michael lives in Federal Way with his dog.
